Our fifteenth entry in this blog is our trip to Yokohama Zoological Gardens, also known as Zoorasia. I love zoos. I always love zoos. 🙂 I am so happy that Rei and Sai gets to see lots of animals at their age. During my time as a kid, I only see domestic animals and farm animals like cows, goats, and pigs… and by those, I am already amazed. Rei can identify most of the animals. I wonder if our little boy Sai knows he is in a zoo, for sure he will be happy seeing this blog when he knows how to read 🙂 Here is Sai having a one-on-one meeting with a chimp.

Below is a picture of a Polar Bear (upper left photo). I have seen one in Ueno Zoo (Tokyo) but this bear in Zoorasia looks happier since his place is very big and very well-designed, complete with his very own waterfalls.

Zoorasia is one of Japan’s newest, largest and best kept zoos. The zoo was established in 1999. The animals are generally kept in spacious areas that mimic their natural habitat to a degree that is not usually seen in Japanese zoos. They have lesser fences here compared to Ueno Zoo (Tama Zoo in Tama City, Tokyo also have this type of animal exhibit). I love seeing giraffes and zebras. 🙂

I have never been to a zoo with so many rest areas and cafes. Zoorasia is now my favorite. They even have a freshness burger inside with unique Zoorasia flavors (no… meats in burgers are not from animals inside the zoo. lol). Just a few steps from the last cafe/resto/resting area, another one shows up. hehehe… Lots of comfort rooms and baby-changing rooms are also available. Here is Rei and Sai very excited to order ice cream. Along with some photos of the zoo’s many resting areas.

But these cafes are not the only reason why we love Zoorasia. They have a huge play area for the kids! They also have a rope-themed play area but I was not able to take a photo of it. This place is great!

Here are some photos of us in the zoo. Papa Dave here is trying to beat a kangaroo’s jump.

I am very sure that we will visit this zoo again someday! But we also need to visit the other ones to include it here in our diary 🙂 Until next time Zoorasia! We will be back.
