Our Trip to Tarsier Sanctuary

Our twenty second entry in this blog is our trip to Philippine Tarsier Foundation near Corella, Bohol. Tarsiers are adorable cute animals with giant eyes and soft fur. Rei is very excited to see one. This is a place where tarsiers live in the wild. There are lots of them in the area but it is very hard to find one. Tarsiers are nocturnal animals and they are inactive during daytime. Usually they sit at the same place the whole day. Here is a photo where we had our first Tarsier encounter, hehehe… but it’s just a poster. lol.

The place has lots and lots of thin trees and grass. This is the first time Rei and Sai walks in a forest and they loved it! You just have to follow the trail and it is very important to be quiet at all times so as not to disturb the little creatures. They are already considered one of the endangered species. They can be easily stressed out and tend to commit suicide. As our tour guide mentioned,Β  Tarsier’s eyes are larger than its brain. Here are some photos of the gang walking and walking in the forest to look for one.

Here is the gang all happy to see the little Tarsiers.Β  We only saw 3 but that’s ok.Β  They need some rest and sleep. πŸ™‚

Next time we visit Bohol, we will try to go to another Tarsier preservation area near Loboc. Until next time!
