Our Trip to Hakone Open Air Museum

Our thirty-fifth entry in this blog is our trip to Hakone Open Air Museum in Japan. This is my second (or third?) visit in this place but this is Rei and Sai’s first time. It is just so unfortunate that we visited on a cloudy day which made the weather super cold and staying outside to see all the exhibits and arts were a bit difficult. Anyway, we still managed to get some nice photos. Here is Papa Dave lining up to buy our tickets. And little Sai is walking on his own towards the entrance gates.

This museum have a harmonic balance of nature and art by exhibiting various sculptures on its grounds in combination with views of the surrounding valley and mountains. It is perfect to visit here during Autumn peak season where you can see the orange colored mountains and red colored trees. We were just too early for that!

The museum has various different sections and exhibition spaces outdoors and indoors. The Picasso Exhibition Hall is one such space and showcases two stories of paintings, sculptures and ceramic works by the artist in addition to photos of him at various points during his life. We were not able to go inside… Kids was not interested in paintings. hehe… Next time, we should go inside, ok?

There are also cafes and restos in this museum. We stopped at a Mercedes Cafe and ate hotdogs and more hotdogs. Here are still some photos of the exhibits of the open air museum.

That was a very fun visit to the museum. Ate Rei and little Sai asked some questions on what are these and what are those… Well, I should reseach more on arts before visiting one again someday. πŸ™‚
