Our 63rd entry in this blog is our trip to Science Museum in Tokyo, Japan. This is Ate Rei and Sai’s first time to visit this museum. And for us (me and Papa Dave) our last visited was probably 10 years ago? 🙂 We remembered it as a very interesting museum with lots of cool experiments you can try out but I’m pretty sure our little Ate Rei and Sai will still have a hard time understanding these science concepts for now. But still… everyone’s heading over to one of the coolest museum in Tokyo!

Our first stop is the Waku Eco Moter Land. Sai can’t get enough of this place. We had a hard time getting Sai out of a place where cars and motors are the main topic. Specially if he gets to virtually drive one! You can try driving a car, a motorcycle and a truck in simulators and learn about eco-friendly driving, car recycling, safety code and discover the function of a hybrid car.

Then we also headed to the Bicycle Plaza where there are great examples of bicycles from the past and learn about the history of bicycles. Then we also went to the Atomic Station Geo-Lab where you can learn the pros and cons of every energy and learn about Japan’s present energy situation.

We also get to meet an interactive robot along the hallway. Unfortunately, he only speaks Japanese. 🙂 There are mini displays along the hallway, mostly about motors. You will learn about the basic motor functions and realize that many everyday objects have hidden motors within them.

We also visited what they call a Constrium where you will learn how things are built and how they can resist to earthquakes and strong winds.

One of the interesting place we visited was the Optics area. Lots of mirrors surround you which makes it confusing for our little Sai. He even bumped to one of the mirrors. hehe… 🙂

In the Optics area, is a large illusion machine where you can get inside and will move when someone steps in. This is quite dizzying…

Another area is the Mechanics room. You can play with machines, and try to lift a car. Awesome!

We were not able to enter all the exhibits, probably just half of the entire building. Mainly because, they like to go back to the motors area, where a cool motorcycle is available for driving! Our little Sai really wanted to drive his dream motorbike but cannot even reach the handles. haha!

That’s OK Sai, it was fun. We will be back some time and make sure you can reach that big motorbike handle. And that ends our museum day. With our first visit to National Museum of Science and Nature, and this one, the Science Museum. 🙂
