Our 94th entry in this blog is our trip to Maxell Aqua Park in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan. This is Ate Rei and Sai’s first time to visit this aquarium. But for me and Papa Dave, we have visited this park several times already. It was formerly known as the Epson Aqua Park. It is quite a small aquarium and not located near an ocean or sea, which makes it very accessible to Tokyo peeps. Here is Ate Rei and Sai ready to go inside the Aqua Park.

Maxell Aqua Park is an entertainment space and an aquarium in one. Decorations, projections, light, sound, and shows change depending on the season. They currently have several themes like SAKURA AQUARIUM in spring, the FLOWER AQUARIUM in early summer, the HANABi AQUARIUM during summer, the AQUA POP HALLOWEEN in autumn, the SNOW AQUARIUM in winter and the STAR AQUARIUM for Christmas, which is what we have visited today.

The photo above is the Magical Ground where Ate Rei and Sai loves to ride the under the sea merry-go-round. They were so busy selecting what sea creature they are going to ride. Below is a photo of some displays along the entrance area with the Christmas themed lighting.

In this next area, you feel like having a white Christmas with all the white decors and snow themed designs. There is also another ride with a pirate ship but we did not ride it since our little Sai did not pass the height requirement. We just headed to the Coral Cafe Bar where there are lots of interesting tables with real fishes underneath.

One of the interesting part is the Jellyfish Ramble. It is quite relaxing seeing all the jellyfishes swimming slowly and just taking their time. You also feel like walking slowly and taking your time to watch each kind of displayed jellyfish. The lights are also mesmerizing and the sound effects make me want to sleep. hehe 🙂

Now for the exciting part, the dolphin show in The Stadium. We made sure to get our own raincoats since we are sure this part of the stadium seat is gonna rain!

And indeed, our coats were soaking wet after the show. Those naughty dolphins always made sure that their audiences seated nearby will not finish the show dry. And that was so much fun. Ate Rei and Sai was shocked to have that kind of splashing show. hehehe 🙂 Here are some of the dolphins’ performances.

We then proceed to the Little Paradise and the Wonder Tube. Here you can see super lots of fishes, various species, colors and sizes. We spent time trying to read their names and looking for them in the wide aquarium.

In the Wonder Tube, You can watch rare sawfish and manta rays swimming and dancing from this wide underwater tunnel. And also Sai’s favorite, baby sharks.

We also went to the other parts of the aquarium like the Life Museum where some of the reptiles and amphibians are seen. As well as the Aqua Jungle where also different kinds of aquatic plants we do not get to see in normal seas. And in the Wild Street where you can see some penguins, seals, and otters in their habitat.

And that was our day in Maxell Aqua Park. Since we arrived early, we finished early and still had the time to tour other favorite places in Tokyo like in Shibuya and Odaiba.

We hope to be back in Maxell Aqua Park to try their other seasonal light decorations. Until then 🙂
