Our Trip to Kawaguchiko

Our 105th entry in this blog is our trip to Kawaguchiko.  This area is a resort in Yamanashi Prefecture Japan, one and a half hours via bus from Tokyo.  Located at the base of Mt. Fuji, Japan’s largest mountain, is the central Fujikawaguchiko area, where you can enjoy beautiful nature, the lake, and other various entertainment.
It is really fortunate for us since there is a direct bus from our station (Tama-Plaza in Yokohama) to Fuji-Q Highland station.  Yay!  Approximately 2 hours away!  There is no need for us to transfer train rides, just sleep on the way and voila! 🙂

But it is really unfortunate for us since it was raining when we arrived at Fuji-Q Highland Station. huhu… The park area was quiet and most of the kiddie rides are outdoors and are closed on rainy days.

And for sure this rain will pour for the entire day… So we decided to just walk around the area and see some things to eat.  We  encountered this black chicken karaage which looked weird but we wanted to try.  It tasted like normal chicken karaage which is delicious.  Ate Rei really ate up most of it specially when it was partnered with her favorite chahan (fried rice).  And our little Sai is busy looking at the cute and colorful buses…

We went ahead and checked-in to our hotel (Hotel MyStays Fuji Onsen Resort) which is just 5 minutes from Fuji-Q Highland Station.  We added another night stay since we did not push through with our theme park tour today.  We’ll just start tomorrow, and tour the rest of Kawaguchiko the next day.

After hotel check-in, we went to a nearby mall, or was it just a supermarket? We ate ice cream and did some coloring and origami arts.  If I remember it right, the name was “It’s More”.

And we walked around nearby area to look for dinner.  And thankfully, we saw this yakiniku place with a play area.  Wow!  That is amazing.  A win-win for all.  A good place to eat in peace for me while the kids are busy playing with toys and rolling around the play area mat.  Happy place! 🙂

The next day, our second day in Kawaguchiko Yamanashi, we had breakfast at a nearby cafe named Komeda’s Coffee.  And their breakfast choices are all so yummy.  Everything is yummy that makes it so hard to choose what to eat.  We ordered the Shiro-Noir,  like a pancake with ice cream on top, yum!  And their coffee is great as well.  Ate Rei also ordered hot choco and she loves it so much.  🙂

After that, since it is already a sunny day, we finally went inside Fuji-Q Highland.  Spent the whole day with rides at Thomas Land, Naruto Area, Gaspard et Lisa, Fuji Museum, and so much more.

And then on our third day, we went to several areas in Kawaguchiko: like the Natural Living Center, Music Forest Museum, Mount Tenjo via the Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, and Lake Kawaguchiko on board Ensoleillé Sightseeing Boat.

For all places mentioned above, we have a separate blog entry for each that you might want to check.  Just browse through previous contents near to this post.
And that was our trip to Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi, Japan.  There are still lots of places that we did not visit yet, save for the next trip.  🙂
