Our Trip to Cebu Safari

Our 112th entry in this blog is our trip to Cebu Safari for the second time. The first time was just last year on its soft opening. We love the place and always love to go back. This time, it is just a day after Christmas, and is my birthday. Hooray! πŸ™‚ Here we have the gang, complete from Gooya and Lolo, Tita Karen, Tito Dou, Baby Heart, Ate Gin, Pap Dave and the little ones Ate Rei and Sai. We are on board the tram to take us first to our room at Safari Camp and we are all ready to tour the place.

Right after we left our things in Safari Camp, we started our day (well, we were not able to come in early as planned) with a lunch meal at The Safari Outpost. The Outpost serves western food. You can enjoy beef pot roast and fried chicken, as well as hotdogs, burgers, nachos, and gourmet fries. This is a place where you can have your meal while overlooking the giraffes, meerkats, and aquatic birds.

After lunch, we went through the canopy walk. This is a very relaxing walk under the tall trees and above the forest where you can see some animals that are not caged. We saw some swan goose, and ducks nearby you can actually touch them, but I’m just scared to do that. hehehe…

Next stop is one of Ate Rei’s favorite activity. Feeding the birds at the Macaw Avaiary. I’m really proud of these kids, they are not afraid to go near an animal or bird so that they can feed them, unlike me. lol. Here we have Ate Rei so happy to feed her favorite red bird and really wants to bring home one πŸ™‚

And then we exited along the animal trail where you can be with the capybaras, rheas, and some llamas. That was quite scary since they really have no cages. It’s a good thing they did not jump on us. πŸ™‚ We are now heading to the bird show in the safari stadium…

The bird show was so fun. You can see Cebu Safari birds in action! There are several kinds of cute and kind birds on the stage: from the friendly macaws, chattering lories, and African crowned crane to raptures like Philippine sea eagle, Philippine owl, and Philippine hawk. I did not realize that there are so many people inside the safari today. It doesn’t feel crowded when you are out to see the other animals but when it’s time for the bird show, you will realize how many they are. Some did not even have a seat already.

After the bird show, we went to the Tiger Turf (and ate some yummy gelato) and in Orangutown to see some fun loving monkeys πŸ™‚

We then went to see the cheetahs, box turtles, crocodiles, otters, and a lot lot more. We were also able to feed the crocodiles which really scared us because the crocs fight for the food that we throw at them. Really awesome, scary, and fun.

That was the end of our first day as we got tired of walking and wanted to take a dip in the pool at Safari Camp. For the second day we had lunch at the Base Camp. This main dining area serves Filipino food overlooking the kangaroos and wallabies. We then continued our tour in the nearby Aviary Dome. After that, we went back up the safari site to go to the white lions. We got to meet the white lions all the way from France and Germany. We took a ride at the enclosed safari truck for about 15 minutes and see the white lions in their habitat. Well it doesn’t really look as white as I expected but this is due to the climate that we have here in the Philippines.

And lastly, we went to the African Savanna. That was a real but short African safari ride! We saw zebras and African antelopes that are very near to us. There were other animals such as the impala, greater kudu, eland, wildebeest and a lot more we cannot identify. hehehe…

And that was the end of our Cebu Safari adventure. It was a fun tour with families and kids. We hope to go back soon. πŸ™‚
