Our Trip to Zoorasia

Our 121st entry in this blog is our second time visit to Zoorasia, in Yokohama, Japan. This is one of Japan’s newest, largest and best kept zoos.

The day started out as sunny, but it seems that big clouds are coming so it would be cloudy in a while. The zoo was established in 1999, and since then has been operating under the themes of “Symbiosis of Life” and “Harmony with Nature”.

We saw lots of the usual big zoo animals like elephants, tiger, gorillas, apes, and a lot more. The animals are generally kept in spacious areas that mimic their natural habitat to a degree that is not usually seen in Japanese zoos.

There are also penguins, red pandas, and the sleeping lioness over there πŸ™‚ The zoo is also wide and lots of walking are needed to cover the entire area.

But as you walk along, you will be greeted with lots of lovely scenes. There are also perfect and wide places for family picnics.

One of the many things we like about Zoorasia is their Polar Bears. Yes, they have at least 2 (we saw 2 bears). And they are not thin bears but big and fluffy, white bears. Ate Rei and Sai are amazed by how big they πŸ™‚ It is almost Christmas time so they have this big Christmas Tree decorated with animal figurines.

The day became cloudy and gloomy. It was sooo cold already which makes it difficult to take photos. hehe… πŸ™‚ Anyway, that was our half day visit to the zoo. We did saw a lot but not all their animals since we arrived late. Until next time! πŸ™‚
