Our Trip to Enoshima Aquarium

Our 123rd entry in this blog is our trip to Enoshima Aquarium in Kanagawa, Japan. This is Ate Rei and Sai’s first time to visit Enoshima Aquarium, right after visiting the nearby Enoshima Island. This aquarium is famously called EnoSui.

There are several zones or areas inside the aquarium, differentiating the kinds of sea creatures on display.

There is a Sagami Bay Zone where you can discover the attractions and diversity of Sagami Bay, which is known worldwide as a treasure trove of marine life. Sagami Bay is where the Oyashio and Kuroshio currents meet. Beyond Sagami Bay lies the expansive Pacific Ocean, which connects us to the rest of the world.

The Deep Sea Zone is where you can learn about the cutting-edge deep sea research, including their joint research with JAMSTEC on long-term breeding methods for deep sea fishes.

The Dolphin Show Stadium is where dolphins and sea lions perform. I love this place as you can see the Enoshima Island as your view and Mount Fuji beyond the Shonan coast.

There is also a Sea Turtle Beach, a new facility providing an environment in which sea turtles can live in more comfortably.

The Jellyfish Fantasy Hall, a very good display of jellyfishes, this exhibit makes use of their research on long-term breeding methods for jellyfish. Jellyfishes are indeed a therapeutic exhibit. πŸ™‚

The fishes even have their own Christmas Tree as Christmas is coming πŸ™‚ I wonder if they will also get gifts from Santa πŸ™‚

After a long day’s walk from Enoshima Island early this morning, and inside the wide Enoshima Aquarium, we took a rest, of course with some drinks and ice cream, along the Enoshima coast line, looking at the glorious sunset, and the silhouette of Mount Fuji (if you can spot it). πŸ™‚ And that was our day at Enoshima. Hope to be back soon! πŸ™‚
