Our Trip to Nagoya

Our 152nd entry in this blog is our first time trip to Nagoya. This is also my first time to visit this place in Japan. Yay! We woke up early and went to Shin Yokohama station for Ate Rei and Sai’s first time ride with a bullet train, the Nozomi Shinkansen. It only took us around 1 hour and 20 minutes travel time for maybe 250-300km distance? Amazingly fast!

As you can see, Ate Rei and Sai are so excited to board the bullet train. They said it was like an airplane, but smoother. Specially when they saw a stewardess bringing food in a cart along the aisle, really like an airplane. And the moment we arrived at Nagoya station, we wasted no time and immediately headed to Legoland Japan. Yosh!

We spent the whole day at Legoland. It was huge than what we expected. We did not even get to ride everything on our list since we ran out of time. hehehe 🙂 We then checked in to the Legoland Hotel just beside the park itself. We had our dinner there, watched a lot of Legoland movies and slept soundly in their Kingdom Themed room.

The next day, we went to Sea Life Nagoya, also part of the Legoland Nagoya area. Designs are so cool. Legos and fishes! What can go wrong?! They are all our faves. 🙂

After our visit to Nagoya Sea Life, we walked to our next stop for the day. The train museum in the same area as well, SCMaglev and Railway Park.

We did not expect to see a lot of different kinds of trains in Japan. We were happy to see the old ones that were still in very good condition, classic designs and feel. 🙂 After this museum visit, we checked in to another hotel, nearer to the train station for our stops for the next day.

We stayed for a night at Meitetsu Grand Hotel, just a stone throw away from the Nagoya station, Shinkansen exit gates. The place is also huge and lively, like Shinjuku in Tokyo. We walked around the area while looking for dinner. And I am so happy to have a Crab noodle soup, this is now my favorite! Got to go back here for this 🙂

After our sleep and rest from yesterday’s trip, our tour for the next day, our 3rd and last day in Nagoya, will focus mainly in the city. Our first stop is the Nagoya Castle.

We had a quick visit in the castle grounds as it is not allowed yet to enter the castle building due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Well, this can be a good reason to go back indeed 🙂

We walked through the city streets and we are so happy to see a lot of greens and trees in the main city streets of Nagoya. We then reached the grounds for the Nagoya TV Tower.

It is the oldest TV tower in Japan, and was completed in 1954. It is located in the centre of Hisaya Ōdori Park. The tower is 180 metres high, and has two main observation decks, the indoor Sky Deck and the outdoor Sky Balcony. The tower also includes a restaurant and gallery. Nagoya TV Tower closely resembles the Eiffel Tower. Recently, the tower became known under the nickname of “Thunder Tower” due to the nighttime illumination. The tower also included a bowling alley at the top. And a hotel as well. Whoa!
We then decided to visit the Nagoya Science Museum.

The museum houses the largest planetarium in the world and has three main sections on modern technology, life sciences and general science with a variety of hands-on exhibits. Ate Rei and Sai love Science Museums and this is now their favorite! 🙂

We then headed back to the station for our quick train ride back to Yokohama. We hope to visit again Nagoya! 🙂
