Our Trip to Hakuba Happo One

Our 235th entry in this blog is our amazing trip to Happo One in Hakuba, Japan. This is Ate Rei and Sai’s first mountain hiking 🙂

Well not really a hiking – hiking but somewhat a pampered one, as we still get a choice to ride the lifts. 🙂

From this point on, hiking will now commence! hehehe. Hakuba Happoone is actually a winter resort, a ski resort located on Mount Karamatsu in Hakuba, Japan. For the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, it hosted the alpine skiing downhill, and other skiing events.

Ate Rei is somewhat dressed for the mall! haha. She was excited at first, but felt dizzy by the time we arrived at a higher level.

Ate Rei always sits everytime she sees an opportunity to sit down. 🙂 She loves mountains but maybe not prepared enough to deal with thin air up here. You can do this Rei! 🙂

Our little Sai still has the energy to go up and back to check on us, and go up again to catch up with Papa Dave. Obviously he loves hiking 🙂

I was also dizzy myself so the three of us stopped at this level, were we are with the best view for the day!

I’m happy Ate Rei got this far up! Yay! Now we need to sit and rest for a bit before heading down. Papa Dave was the one who continued to the summit. We waited for him to be back. These are his photos:

Crazy beautiful! I will make sure to go to the peak when we return soon. haha! Papa Dave was not that long to go to the summit and back. He is a master hiker!

It’s time for us to hike back down! Now this would be easier, neh?

The views are all so breathtaking! I always mention to Ate Rei and Sai that these are views we don’t see everyday. So we should savor it! 🙂

It’s a good thing the weather is perfect on this day. Not hot, and not so freezing as well. Not even a cloud to cover the views. 🙂

Ate Rei said: Why is it that maps don’t reveal how rocky the track is. 🙂 haha. But I know she enjoyed it!

When going down, we reached a cafe called Hakuba Mountain Beach. hehe. Well it was mostly white and looks like white sand, maybe that’s why they named it a beach?
And that was our wonderful day with the mountains of Hakuba. We really hope to go back next time and make sure we go to the summit. 🙂
