Our 253rd entry in this blog is our trip to Singapore’s Gardens By The Bay. We are so happy to finally see these famous trees that we always see in airline advertisements for Singapore. We also have a good view of the Marina Bay Sands while entering Gardens By The Bay.

The Gardens by the Bay (GBTB) is an urban park spanning 105 hectares in the Central Region of Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir.

The park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden in Marina South, Bay East Garden with the Founders’ Memorial in Marina East and Bay Central Garden in the Downtown Core and Kallang.

Gardens by the Bay was part of the nation’s plans to transform its “Garden City” to a “City in a Garden”, with the aim of raising the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city. This was intended to be Singapore’s premier urban outdoor recreation space and one of the country’s national icons.

They have an exhibit for Gardens by the Bay’s Children Festival featuring a collaboration with Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2”.

The collaboration, that started last May 25, features large-scale installations and is the only Inside Out-themed outdoor carnival in Southeast Asia. This is ahead of the movie’s release on Jun. 13 in Singapore.

We spent the day walking around the area, going in to some exhibits like the Flower Dome, and looking at landscape of Singapore from one of the tallest Supertree they have, the Supertree Observatory. There is still so much area to explore here, but we need to find some lunch goodies! π

We chose the dinosaur themed restaurant called the Jurassic Nest Food Hall. It’s a Michelin-rated cuisine in a lush Jurassic setting.

From their brochure: The latest addition to Gardens by the Bayβs dining offerings, Jurassic Nest is the first of its kind in Singapore. More than just aΒ Michelin-rated andΒ themed food hall, Jurassic Nest is also an edu-tainment and lifestyle destination for the whole family. Look forward to enthralling shows daily as you enjoyΒ Michelin-ratedΒ cuisines in the company of larger-than-life dinosaurs! There is also an educational trail that guides you to explore the surrounding gardens to discover fascinating facts about some of the earliest species of flora and fauna that existed since prehistoric times.
After lunch, we went to Marina Bay Sands’ SkyPark Observation Deck, and went back here in Gardens By The Bay for dinner with Tito Eng. π

The crab meals are to die for! Yum. Then, we strolled back to the Supertrees to see their light-up display. Supertrees are the 18 tree-like structures that dominate the Gardens’ landscape with heights that range between 25 meters and 50 meters. The light-up was amazing!

And that was our quick visit to Gardens By The Bay. So many things to do here and it all summed up our first day in Singapore! π
