Our Trip to Sentosa

Our 260th entry in this blog is our trip to the famous Sentosa in Singapore πŸ™‚ This has always been part of our list, where in fact, half of our Singapore trip is at Sentosa Island. We had 2 days of fun in here. Yay!
For our first day, we went to several places in Sentosa. How we wished we can visit all of its attractions, but a whole day is not enough. And we did another whole day (2nd day) at Universal Studios. πŸ™‚

We started our day with the monorail ride to the island, and got our morning coffee at Starbucks. hehe. Sentosa Island, known mononymously as Sentosa, is an island located off the southern coast of Singapore’s main island. The island is separated from the main island of Singapore by a channel of water, the Keppel Harbour, and is adjacent to Pulau Brani, a smaller island wedged between Sentosa and the main island. We then headed to our first attraction, the Madame Tussaud’s.

Right after the Tussaud’s museum, we just walked towards the area where Universal Studios is located.

Sentosa was formerly used as a British military base and afterwards as a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp, the island was renamed Sentosa in the 1970s to become a popular tourist destination.

The first time I visited Sentosa was still way back 2008. And it really has changed a lot. It is now home to a popular resort that receives up to 25 million visitors per year. Attractions include a 2.5 km long sheltered beach, Madame Tussauds Singapore, an extensive cable car network, Fort Siloso, two golf courses, 14 hotels as well as the Resorts World Sentosa, which features the Universal Studios Singapore theme park and one of Singapore’s two casinos, the other being in Marina Bay Sands.

We walked in to some shops and Sai was so happy to see a Lego store here! He wanted the Transformers Lego set so badly that he keeps on mentioning it for the entire day! haha πŸ™‚
Sentosa is also widely known as being the location of the 2018 North Korea–United States Singapore Summit, where North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump met at the Capella Singapore located on the island.

Our next stop is the SEA Aquarium. Upon its opening in 2012, the S.E.A. Aquarium had the distinction of being the world’s largest oceanarium and public aquarium, a title it held through 2014, until it was surpassed by Chimelong Ocean Kingdom.

After some hours inside the huge S.E.A Aquarium, we went out to explore some local foods, desserts and drinks πŸ™‚

And we also took a photo of Universal Studio’s globe, as a sneak peek of where we are going tomorrow. πŸ™‚

One of our favorite highlights for the day is the Luge ride. This is Sai’s most awaited destination in Sentosa. It was indeed fun! We tried all the race tracks and our favorite is the Dragon one.

After the Luge ride, we strolled by the beach, walking on its fine sand, with our rubber shoes. haha! πŸ™‚

Our energy was drained from the Luge ride and our beach stroll, so we went to find another snack place again, we ordered some drinks and snacks at Shake Shack. This is just located near the Central Beach Bazaar where the Wings of Time will be shown later.

We then explored the Sensoryscape Sentosa while waiting for the Wings of Time show to start. The details of all these art structures are amazing. Whoever thought of this is a genius. πŸ™‚ We spent some time exploring the area until the Wings of Time show starts.

We then proceeded to watching the Wings of Time show which started almost nighttime. We also got to eat our dinner while watching the show. πŸ™‚ This is the iconic award-winning multi-sensory night show set against the backdrop of an open sea.

After the show, we walked back to the monorail station while going through all the Sensoryscape structures again, but now, with amazing night lights. We went back straight to our hotel at Bencoolen, got a good sleep for tomorrow’s whole day affair: The Universal Studios Singapore! πŸ™‚

2 days well spent at Sentosa πŸ™‚ We wish to go back soon and try the other attractions we have not visited yet. Until next time!
