Our Trip to Hiroshima

Our 280th entry in this blog is Rei and Sai’s first time trip to Hiroshima. 🙂
As soon as our plane landed in Osaka (from Cebu), we were met by Papa Dave who is already in Osaka and also excited for our trip. We immediately went to the Shinkansen Station in Osaka to board our train ride straight to Hiroshima (for about 2 hours).

This is our 3rd time to ride the Bullet Train. If I remember it right, our first time was in Nagoya. Sai said, this is another plane ride but much smoother.

Then we arrived in Hiroshima Station and directly went to our hotel, the Hotel MyStatys Hiroshima.

Since the hotel is very near our first stop for the day, we just walked right and about 🙂

With just a few steps, we arrived at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. There were some students on tour that day so it’s not just us, it was not crowded as the area is wide.

We read some of the notes that described the place and comparing them with photos of before and after the nuclear bomb.

Then we went to some areas nearby to look for snacks. They had this pan fiesta in a nearby outside mall. The day was fast and it’s already night time. We had our dinner at KFC because Ate Rei is eyeing this promo with the KFC and Genshin Impact game collab. To go back to our hotel, we passed by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park again. We explored the place at night, and it was creepy.

Then we went back in the hotel for a good night sleep. Followed by a beautiful morning and a perfect breakfast at the hotel. 🙂

We then went to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and we learned a lot about the bombing. How big the bomb was, the effects of the residents, and even the actual clothes that are still radioactive are all there.

We then went to the famous Hiroshima Castle where we were already exhausted by the stairs both in and out of the castle. hehe. 🙂 But the view from the highest floor is so worth the climb.

We then went to our next hotel, the Miyajima Coral Hotel for check in. And since the day is still bright, we immediately went to Miyajima Island.

We explored the Itsukushima Shrine and how beautiful and sacred this place is. 🙂

We waited for sunset to watch how lovely the orange torii would look when it’s going to be illuminated. Then we went back in the mainland for dinner. 🙂

After dinner, we had a good night sleep at the hotel, and of course, we are excited for the breakfast meal. hehe 🙂 After breakfast, we went back to Miyajima Island because, why not! We can’t get enough of this island.

This time, we explored Mount Misen. Miyajima’s sacred mountain. They have this fire that has been burning for more than 1,200 years already. Imagine! It is called the Eternal Flame.

We used the ropeway in going up the mountain as there was a little drizzle of rain, but we hiked back down towards Itsukushima Shrine.

These are some of our photos exploring the island near the Itsukushima Torii or Gate.

And that was our 3 days at Hiroshima. I’m sure we have missed a lot of cool places but we sure hope to be back soon. This time, we rode the overnight bus going to Tokyo, for about 13 hours! Ouch! My back really ached. haha! until next time Hiroshima. 🙂
