Our Trip to Mitra’s Ranch

Our 317th entry in our digital diary is our trip to Mitra’s Ranch in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. This is just a super quick photo stop. Situated atop Santa Monica Heights along Mitra Road, this former private property belonged to the late Senator Ramon V. Mitra, Jr. and is now open to the public as a beloved tourist destination.

There’s no general entrance fee, although some attractions like entering the house or heritage displays may cost a modest Php 20. The ranch is renowned for its sweeping panoramas over Puerto Princesa, Honda Bay, and the Sulu Sea. It’s the perfect place to relax, meditate, enjoy a picnic, or capture beautiful sunrise or sunset photos. Benches, wide open lawns, and fresh air add to the serene experience.

The ranch offers several adventurous activities including ziplining (with multiple platforms and ziplines ranging from around 150 m to 300 m), horseback riding, giant slides, trampolines, and skywalk/bridges.

You’ll find roaming horses, donkeys, and sometimes ducks that enhance the pastoral vibe. A triangular, bungalow-style ranch house adds character—some rooms or display spaces (like those featuring memorabilia of Senator Mitra) may require a small fee and have a no-footwear policy.

Plenty of picnic tables, lawns, and picnic grounds offer a tranquil setting. Visitors often bring their own food and enjoy it amid the beautiful scenery. The ranch houses small refreshment stalls, selling snacks, beverages, and light local fare, often located near seating areas.
