Our Trip to National Palace Museum

Our 338th entry in our digital diary is our first time visit to Taipei’s National Palace Museum in Taiwan. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we were not able to get inside the museum on this day, because this is our last stop for our tour, and our flight going back to Cebu will be after lunch time.

The location for this museum is in Shilin District, Taipei, Taiwan. It was opened in 1965. It’s purpose is to preserve and display traditional Chinese art and cultural treasures. It is one of the largest and most important museums of Chinese art in the world.

Many artifacts were originally kept in Beijing’s Forbidden City. They were moved to Taiwan during the Chinese Civil War (late 1940s) for safekeeping. The museum plays a key role in preserving cultural heritage during periods of conflict.

The main building is designed in traditional Chinese palace style, inspired by imperial architecture. Set against a mountain backdrop, giving it a calm and majestic atmosphere. Considered a national treasure of Taiwan. It attracts millions of visitors, including scholars and tourists from around the world. And it plays a major role in research, conservation, and cultural education. We are so glad we visited the place, we hope to go inside the museum if we can go back to Taiwan. 🙂
