Our twelfth entry in this blog is our trip to Odaiba in Tokyo, Japan. Odaiba is a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, across the Rainbow Bridge from central Tokyo. Odaiba, along with Minato Mirai 21 in Yokohama, are two of the only places in the Greater Tokyo Metropolitan area where the seashore is accessible, and not blocked by industry and harbor areas. Here are some of our photos with the Rainbow Bridge (the one with me and Sai) and with the side view of the mini replica of the Statue of Liberty (lots of people are in front of it for selfies, so we just opted to stay at the sides. hehehe…).

Odaiba is a popular shopping and sightseeing destination for Tokyoites and tourists alike. One of its major attractions is the Gundam Front Tokyo, featuring an 18 meter tall Gundam statue. This huge statue is in front of the Diver City mall, a shopping, dining and entertainment complex opened in 2012. I am not really a fan of the anime Gundam, I did not watch it that much as a kid, but I am still fascinated by the site of the big robot. Rei always asks if it will move or not… She hates robots. 🙂 (the head moves from side to side, and smoke comes out from the back area of the robot).

Odaiba has numerous attractions. You can search it in google and plan a whole day of touring them all. As for us… since this is not our first visit, we just went to the areas where it’s free and fun for the kids. We went to Venus Fort (a Venice-themed shopping mall), History garage (display of cars in the past), and the Megaweb (exhibition hall of car maker Toyota). We stayed and played at Megaweb. Rei and Sai doesn’t care yet about these attractions, they just want to play!

Here are some photos while strolling around Odaiba. We boarded the monorail (Yurikamome Line) from Shimbashi to get here.a

Until next time Odaiba!
