Our Trip to Babuyan Twin Sandbar

Our 321st entry in our digital diary is our first time visit to Babuyan Twin Sandbar in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. This is actually a complimentary trip when you stay at Astoria Palawan. So we woke up early and got ready for our sandbar trip! πŸ™‚

Babuyan Twin Sandbar is a community-managed ecotourism spot in Barangay Babuyan, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The β€œtwin” in the name refers to two white sandbars that emerge depending on waves and tide. They are in relatively shallow, clear water. But we only went to one of them. I bet they look and feel the same as they are twins. lol πŸ™‚

Babuyan is about 56 km from Puerto Princesa City proper. From the city, you can go by van or bus; the ride takes approximately 1 hour or less. This is very near Astoria Palawan resort, where we stayed. Once in Barangay Babuyan, you board a boat to reach the sandbars. Boats are usually arranged via the barangay hall.

Main thing to do is Snorkeling. There are coral gardens around, and school of fish in the waters near the sandbars. Good visibility, especially when the waters are calm. Notice how calm the sea is in our photos? Yes. But did we bring our snorkeling gears? No. haha. Good reason to visit again next time.

So we just did what we can do best. Swimming & Sunbathing: Relaxing on the sandbars when the tide is right. The sandbars shift a bit with waves.

You can also do Paraw sailing: Traditional sailboats (paraws) are used sometimes for scenic sailing around the area.

You also do sunset watching if you come here in the afternoon. The spot is also noted for beautiful sunset views.

Since it is our “check-out from the resort” day, we just stayed for like an hour. We surely enjoyed the pristine waters and relaxing views in this sandbar. πŸ™‚
