Our Trip to Cloud Forest

Our 364th entry our digital diary is our first time visit to Cloud Forest in Singapore. This is a Cool‑Moist Conservatory in Gardens By The Bay. Cloud Forest is a climate‑controlled conservatory designed to replicate the cool, misty conditions of tropical mountain regions.

Opened in 2012 – It opened together with Gardens by the Bay and quickly became one of its most popular attractions.

Iconic Glass Dome – The conservatory is housed inside a striking glass dome with a curved structure that allows natural light while controlling temperature and humidity.

Home to the Cloud Mountain – At the center is the Cloud Mountain, a man‑made vertical mountain rising approximately 35 meters high.

Indoor Waterfall – It features one of the world’s tallest indoor waterfalls, cascading from the top of the Cloud Mountain and helping cool the space naturally.

Misty Atmosphere – Fine mist is regularly released, creating a dramatic cloud‑like effect and mimicking high‑altitude forest conditions.

Plant Life from Highlands – The conservatory showcases plant species from tropical highlands around the world, including regions in Southeast Asia, Central and South America.

Rare and Exotic Plants – Visitors can see orchids, ferns, pitcher plants, mosses, and other species that thrive in cooler mountain climates.

Cloud Walk – Elevated walkways allow visitors to explore the conservatory at different heights, offering close‑up views of plants and the waterfall.

Treetop and Mountain Views – Higher paths provide panoramic views of the dome’s interior and the surrounding Marina Bay skyline.

Educational Exhibits – Interactive displays explain cloud formation, mountain ecosystems, and the importance of forests to Earth’s climate.

Climate Change Awareness – The Cloud Forest highlights the impact of global warming on fragile mountain environments and melting glaciers.

Seasonal Floral Displays – The conservatory regularly features themed exhibitions and seasonal plant arrangements.

Energy‑Efficient Cooling – Sustainable technologies are used to maintain low temperatures while minimizing energy consumption.

Popular Photo Spot – The waterfall, misty air, and elevated walkways make it one of the most photographed locations in Singapore.

Accessible for All Ages – The paths and exhibits are designed to be family‑friendly and accessible, including for children and seniors.

Ticketed Attraction – Entry to the Cloud Forest requires an admission ticket, usually bundled with the Flower Dome.

Symbol of Green Innovation – The Cloud Forest represents Singapore’s vision of blending nature, technology, and sustainability in urban spaces.
